The Medal of Honor, often called the Congressional Medal of Honor, is the highest military award for bravery that can be bestowed upon any person in the United States of America. Originally created during the 1860’s, first presented in 1863, the medal has a history that is both colorful and inspiring. This award for bravery in action against an enemy force is presented by the President in the name of the Congress.
Bruce Wayne Carter was presented the Medal of Honor posthumously on September 9, 1971. The accompanying citation is available on this site.
